What Your Free Agentic Commerce Readiness Score Report Actually Grades
See what the free Agentic Commerce Readiness Score grades across catalog, schema, PDP, and checkout — plus the three fixes in your PDF. Run yours free.
The free Agentic Commerce Readiness Score is a graded report on whether AI shopping agents can find, recommend, and sell from your live Shopify storefront. You submit a store URL. Within about 24 hours you get a score out of 100 across four dimensions — catalog AI-readiness, schema and structured data, PDP and Brand-Agent readiness, and checkout friction — plus three concrete fixes ranked for impact. It is not a sales deck, a generic “AI readiness” quiz, or a promise that ChatGPT will name you tomorrow. It answers one operator question: where does our store break for agents first?
This is a GigaCommerce method how-to for Shopify operators in the $100K–$10M band who keep hearing that Brand Agents and agentic storefronts need “ready” catalogs and need a checkable artifact before they book an Agentic Commerce Setup. It sits under the same measurement family as the DIY agentic commerce readiness checklist — the Score is the automated pass against your live URLs; the checklist is what you run yourself when you want every line item spelled out.
Why a scored report beats another “are we AI-ready?” meeting
Most mid-market teams already believe AI shopping matters. The failure mode is not indifference — it is argument without a shared artifact. Marketing wants a Brand Agent. Ops worries about wrong answers. Engineering points at theme debt. Nobody agrees which gap is the blocker, so the project stalls or launches on a thin catalog and burns trust in the first week.
A Brand Agent that reasons over incomplete attributes fails the way Brand Agent failure modes describe: confident wrong answers, false declines, and checkout edge cases that only show up after go-live. Off-site assistants and Shopify Catalog surfaces fail earlier still — they never recommend you because the facts they need are missing, client-rendered, or contradicted across schema and PDP.
The Score exists to collapse that argument into a ranked list. You do not need a consultant on the call to receive it. You need a public Shopify URL and roughly three minutes on the form at /tools/agentic-readiness-score/.
Overall readiness grade across four dimensions that decide whether agents can find, recommend, and sell
GigaCommerce Agentic Commerce Readiness Score product definition
Treat the number as a triage index. A store at 58 with empty gift and compatibility fields on hero SKUs has a different week-one plan than a store at 72 with solid attributes but Product schema that omits Offer price and availability. The PDF’s job is to make that difference obvious without another workshop.
What we ask for — and what the Score is not grading
Intake is deliberately narrow: store URL, contact email, and enough context to know which market and category we are looking at. We score the public storefront an agent or crawler can fetch — not your internal Notion, not a staging theme nobody published, not a slide claiming “metafields are coming.”
In scope
- Catalog structure visible on live PDPs and collections (attribute density, taxonomy signals, feed-shaped facts)
- Product, Offer, Variant, and Organization structured data validity and coverage
- PDP content an agent can parse without executing every client script — descriptions, Q&A-ready facts, image metadata
- Checkout and conversion friction an AI-routed shopper hits: speed, Core Web Vitals patterns, obvious blockers
Out of scope (on purpose)
- A guarantee of ChatGPT, Perplexity, or AI Overview citations — that is a Commerce GEO measurement loop (AI Citation Check), not this Score
- Amazon Seller Central listing quality — different channel, different audit
- Invented “AI maturity” narratives about your org chart or headcount
Shopify-first by design
The free Score is built around a Shopify storefront URL. If your primary revenue is Amazon-only, use an Amazon listing audit path instead of forcing a Shopify-shaped grade onto a marketplace catalog.
The four dimensions — what each grade actually means
1. Catalog AI-readiness
Agents do not browse the way a human skims a hero image. They need typed attributes: materials, dimensions with units, care, fit, compatibility, occasion, contents of a bundle. Marketing paragraphs that mention those facts still leave the field empty for machine use.
This dimension looks at attribute density on representative PDPs, whether taxonomy and category placement look consistent, and whether the catalog presents facts in a shape a feed or agent can consume. Mid-market catalogs often land in the 40–60% band on the attribute fields that answer real shopper questions before enrichment — the same pattern called out across catalog enrichment work. A Score that flags thin catalog coverage is not saying your brand is weak; it is saying the structured layer is incomplete.
2. Schema and structured data
JSON-LD (or equivalent) that declares Product, Offer, Variant, and Organization is how many crawlers and shopping surfaces corroborate what the HTML claims. Broken Offer nodes, missing price/currency, availability as free text, or schema that only appears after client hydration fails the agent fetch path even when the styled page “looks fine” in Chrome.
This dimension grades validity and coverage, not whether you bought a schema app. An app that injects incomplete Product markup can still fail. The sister deep-dive on how schema work lands on AI shopping is in Commerce GEO; here the Score only tells you whether your live pages clear the bar.
3. PDP and Brand-Agent readiness
Even with decent metafields, a PDP can bury the answer an agent needs: specs only in an accordion loaded by JavaScript, policy answers only on a separate page the agent never sees, images without useful alt or metadata, Q&A that never states a self-contained fact. Brand Agents and on-site assistants fail when the page cannot answer “will this fit / return / ship by…” from parseable content.
This dimension is where Shopify Brand Agents, explained meets the live page: conversation design cannot rescue a PDP that never exposes the facts.
4. Checkout and conversion friction
An AI-routed shopper who arrives ready to buy still hits your cart and checkout. Heavy themes, poor Largest Contentful Paint on mobile PDPs, broken variant selection, or surprise shipping math create the same abandoned sessions whether the click came from a Brand Agent handoff or a paid ad. The Score does not replace a full Core Web Vitals program, but it flags friction that would erase the conversion the agent just earned.

What arrives in the PDF — and how to read it in thirty minutes
Turnaround is about 24 hours after a valid Shopify URL lands. Delivery is a scored PDF, not a 40-page strategy mound. Expect:
- 1Overall /100 and per-dimension grades so you can see which pillar is dragging the total.
- 2Evidence notes tied to pages we actually fetched — not generic industry advice with your logo pasted on.
- 3Three specific fixes ranked for leverage: the smallest set of changes that would move the score and, more importantly, unblock agent-safe selling.
How to judge the report (do not “feel impressed”)
- 1Traceability. Can you open the cited PDP or view-source path and see the same gap? If the finding is not reproducible, ask for clarification before you staff a project.
- 2Sequencing. If catalog and schema both fail, enrich and fix Offer markup before you polish Brand Agent greeting copy. Wrong order is how teams ship a chat widget on empty fields.
- 3Shipability. Each of the three fixes should be something an operator or one engineer can start this sprint — metafield definitions, schema corrections, PDP server-render of price/availability, image alt templates, script weight cuts. If a “fix” requires a six-month replatform, it is a roadmap note, not a Score fix.
- 4Honesty about citations. A strong readiness grade does not mean assistants already recommend you. Run a separate AI Citation Check if visibility is the question. Readiness is input quality; citation is outcome measurement.
- 1
Submit your live Shopify URL
Use the public storefront, not a password-gated preview. Confirm the theme and catalogs you care about are published.
- 2
Read dimension grades before the overall number
Identify which pillar is weakest. That pillar sets week-one work.
- 3
Assign the three PDF fixes to owners
One catalog owner, one theme/schema owner, one checkout/performance owner — or the same person with three dated tickets.
- 4
Re-score after the fixes ship
Do not wait a quarter. Re-run after the three fixes land so the trend is real.
How the Score maps to real work (and what it does not buy)
- Thin attributes / prose-trapped specs → Enrich hero SKUs and lock a category schema via Catalog Enrichment.
- Broken or missing Product/Offer schema → Fix JSON-LD coverage and server-render critical facts (Commerce GEO structured-data work).
- PDP facts hidden from fetch → Server-render key specs, clean image metadata, and put policy answers where agents can quote them.
- Checkout / CWV friction → Cut script weight and fix variant/cart blockers on a theme performance pass.
The Score is a diagnostic. Implementation still follows a scoped engagement — for example Agentic Commerce Setup when you are ready to install Brand Agents and checkout rules on a catalog that can support them. Use measuring agentic commerce ROI after launch; do not pretend the free PDF is an ROI forecast.
Do not launch a Brand Agent to “fix” a low Score
Turning on conversation without fixing the lowest dimension usually amplifies wrong answers. Treat a low catalog or schema grade as a launch blocker, not a marketing delay.
Who should run the Score this week
- Shopify merchants evaluating Brand Agents or Agentic Storefronts who need a shared internal artifact before budgeting
- Teams that already ran the DIY readiness checklist and want store-specific grades instead of a blank grid
- Operators heading into peak who will freeze creative experiments but still need cutoff-truth and attribute truth — readiness decays when new SKUs ship thin
- Agencies pitching agentic work who need the client’s actual gaps on a slide, not a category average (the same habit described in the Shopify 2026 agentic guide)
If you already maintain a disciplined PIM with high attribute coverage, clean schema, and healthy CWV, the Score may simply confirm you are ready — that confirmation is still worth the three minutes before you buy Plus seats or book an install.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Agentic Commerce Readiness Score really free?
- Yes. The Score is free, the PDF is free, and there is no mandatory follow-up sequence to receive the report. You can ship the three fixes yourself and stop. A scope call is optional if you want help implementing.
How is this different from the DIY readiness checklist?
- The checklist is the full manual method you can run in your own admin. The Score is the automated, URL-based version that returns store-specific grades and a short fix list. Use the checklist when you want every line item; use the Score when you want a shared artifact fast.
Does a high Score mean ChatGPT will recommend us?
- No. Readiness grades whether agents *can* read and sell from your storefront. Whether assistants *cite* you for category queries is a separate Commerce GEO question — measure that with an AI Citation Check and citation audits.
How often should we re-run the Score?
- After any major catalog import, theme change, or checkout configuration change, and on a lighter quarterly cadence otherwise. New SKUs without full attributes and theme updates that break server-rendering are the usual decay paths.
Do we need Shopify Plus before we run it?
- No. The Score works on a live Shopify storefront URL regardless of plan. Brand Agents, Copilot Checkout, and Agentic Storefront eligibility still follow Shopify’s current plan and channel rules — verify those separately before you quote a launch date.
